MAGMA is a center for movement practices where people of all ages can discover, develop, and create in a broad curriculum of movement styles.

MAGMA’s dance classes focus on the actively evolving forms of dance as art. With an understanding of the past, and an eye to the future, we nurture students in the highest standards of dance education.

MAGMA also offers classes in somatics, martial arts, strength and conditioning, social dance forms, and more.

In addition to offering classes and workshops, we are a performance venue for house-produced events and community events.

Teresa Perez Ceccon

A native New Yorker, Teresa earned a BA in Theater/Dance from Queens College. In 2020, she obtained her Masters of Fine Arts at Montclair State University with a thesis on Latin Jazz Dance. Over 25 years ago, she began teaching in New York City at Dance Space, later renamed Dance New Amsterdam. Presently, she is on faculty at Gibney Dance.

Teresa has worked closely with Lynn Simonson assisting and later conducting the Simonson Method of Teacher Training (SMTT) since 2000. Nationally and internationally, she teaches annual Simonson pedagogy and technique workshops for numerous institutions. In addition, she produces and leads both group and private NYC SMTT courses throughout the year.

In April 2020, her online class schedule launched (www.linesofenergy.com) and to this day, she continues to serve the global dance community virtually.

She is certified in the Simonson Method of Teacher Training (SMTT) and incorporates principles of the Simonson Technique—an anatomically aware approach to movement that focuses on alignment and injury prevention—into her adult and teen classes.

Victoria also works as a writer and editor, and earned her master’s degree in English from Northeastern University.
